About Dave Thompson
Dave has done four feature films. He played Dave the comedian in ‘Maybe Baby’, written and directed by Ben Elton, and the porn star in ‘I Want Candy’, directed by Stephen Surgit (unfortunately his scene didn’t make the final edit). Dave’s third film ‘Huge’, was directed by Ben Miller, and was released in July 2011. His fourth film is ‘Harry Hill – The Movie’. It was released in December 2013, and stars Harry Hill, Julie Walters, and Matt Lucas.
Dave has performed his stand-up comedy act in thirty-two countries and four cruise ships. Known for his one-liners and absurd persona, Dave has written material for many other comics, including Harry Hill, Ronnie Corbett, Bruce Forsyth, Jim Tavare, Ben Elton, Phil Nichol, Omid Djalili, and Stewart Lee.
TV programmes such as ‘Harry Hill’s TV Burp’, and ‘The Sketch Show’ have commissioned Dave as a writer, and he’s appeared in most series of ‘Harry Hill’s TV Burp’ in human or costume roles. Dave wore a Jim Henson lion costume in two films made in Hollywood for American TV. He was in eight episodes of Al Murray’s sitcom ‘Time Gentlemen Please’, and one episode of Ben Elton’s sitcom ‘Blessed’. Despite appearing in many other TV shows such as ‘Never Mind The Buzzcocks’, and featuring in twelve TV commercials, Dave is best known as the person inside the Tinky Winky costume in ‘Teletubbies’, which is still shown all over the world. He’s played various roles in Harry Hill’s live shows: ‘Birdstrike’ (2000 – West End run and one-nighters), ‘Wild Horses’ (2003), ‘Hooves’ (2005 – plus live DVD), and ‘Sausage Time’ (2013 – plus live DVD). Harry is currently working up new material for his next live show, and Dave plays two characters in it. Dave’s first novel ‘The Sex Life of a Comedian’ is available on amazon. He also appeared in Al Murray The Pub Landlord’s live show in London, and the 2015 Edinburgh Festival.
